Stocks on Tuesday witnessed downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 3.69 points or 0.07 per cent to settle at 5,049.80. Two other indices also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 2.98 points to finish at 1,760.23 and the DSE Shariah Index fell 1.23 points to close at 1,158.41. The daily trade turnover on the DSE also plunged to Taka 7.19 billion, which is lower than the previous day’s turnover of Taka 8.48 billion.
Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 356 issues traded, 135 closed lower, 128 higher and 93 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
