Stock markets closed on Sunday of the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were engineering, textile, insurance and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 141 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 19.68 points down at 5,801.33. The Shariah DSES also closed the day with 4.12 points up at 2,003.84. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 0.78 point up at 1,311.38.
The daily trade fell to 24.07 crore shares from Thursday’s 26.03 crore shares and the day’s trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 984.21 crore from Taka 992.74 crore of the previous session.
