Prevention of curses like child marriage, repression and violence against women, dowry, drug abuse and resolving local disputes through arranging arbitration have become crucial for building a peaceful society.
The opinion came at a post-rally views-sharing meeting organised by Citizens’ Rights Group (CRG) with assistance of Grassroots Women Leaders’ Network (GWLN) and Nagorik Uddyog at former Porshuram union parishad auditorium in Rangpur.
Earlier, a huge rally, participated by Imams, Purohits, marriage registrars, public representatives, human rights’ activists, teachers, students and elite, was brought out in the area to create public awareness against social curses.
Later, City Councilor Mokhlesur Rahman Taru attended the meeting as the chief guest with former Member of recently defunct Porshuram union parishad Rafiqul Islam in the chair.
City Councilor from reserved ward Hafiza Khatun Panna, Headmaster of Khotkhotia Government Primary School Zahid Hossain and Rangpur Area Officer of Nagorik Uddyog Shyamol Mohanta addressed as special guests.
