MM Shaheen, chairman of the Thikana Group from New York and former Member of Parliament in Kulaura, was recently given a reception in Kulaura in Moulvibazar on behalf of the Press Club Kulaura.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest presided over by Azizul Islam, President of Press Club Kulaura and conducted by Chowdhury Abu Sayed Fuad, General Secretary of the club.
MM Shaheen said, “I have worked for the welfare of the people of Kulaura for the last 45 years, sometimes through newspapers, sometimes through organizations and sometimes through politics. In my long journey, I have always had the support of the journalists community. Journalists have presented me to the nation through their writings. I am forever indebted to the journalists.
In response to the demands of the journalists, he gave a grant of Tk 1 lakh to the Press Club Kulaura and other journalists’ organizations.
He also assured to take initiative to provide training to the journalists through PIB for the betterment of the professional quality of the journalists and to take steps for government cooperation through the Journalist Welfare Trust.
