A presiding officer on Monday died on duty at a polling center after he had suffered a cardiac arrest at the Pathakata Government Primary School under Mohadebpur Upazila of Naogaon district.
Mobarak Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Mohadebpur said that the deceased was identified as Mazedul Islam, the Headmaster of Hazi Dhanez Uddin High School. He breathed his last at 8:30am on Monday.
The polling was not, however, hampered UNO said.
It is noted that an Assistant Presiding Officer had died on duty at a polling center of Dhaka South City Corporation by-election on February-28. not be known immediately.
The deadly incident happened despite deployment of security personnel during the second phase of upazila election in three hill districts.
