UNB, Dhaka :
President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday underscored the need for strengthening Bangladesh Navy for protecting and tapping the country’s marine resources.
The President said this when chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, Farid Habib apprised the President about his recent visit to the USA and the activities of Bangladesh Navy.
On peacekeeping, he said some 500 Navy personnel have been working in different UN peacekeeping missions.
Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
