President Abdul Hamid on Saturday urged all to devote themselves to nation building activities being imbued with the spirit of historic 6-Point Movement.
In a message on the eve of the Historic June 7, he said the 6-point demand is one of the milestones in the independence movement of the nation. He recalled with profound respect the architect of 6-Point Movement and the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“On the occasion of this historic day, I pay my rich tribute to the memories of martyrs of all movements for realizing people’s rights,” the President said.
The President said the spirit of six-point demand inspires all to strengthen and institutionalize democratic system as well as building a hunger and poverty-free prosperous Bangladesh.
He termed the historic 6-point demand as a milestone in the country’s long struggle for independence.
“6-point contained reasons and inevitability of independence of Bangladesh,” he observed.
President Abdul Hamid said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the 6-point demand against the discrimination and oppressive policies of the then West Pakistani ruling quarters at a national council in Lahore on February 5 in 1966.
