President urges all concerned to explore dev potential

President M Abdul Hamid on Wednesday called on all concerned to explore and utilize properly the country’s development potential to build a developed nation in the 21st century.
“The nation needs coordinated efforts of all to explore the development potential . . . Nobody gives the pace of development, it has to be achieved,” the President said while addressing a public meeting at Charfassion Government T B High School ground in Bhola on Wednesday afternoon.
Noting that the development is a continuous process, President Hamid said, “We all have to go ahead without depending on others.”
Terming country’s around 17 crore population a huge human resource within this small territory, he said, “If this huge population cannot be turned into skilled manpower, our all development plans will go in vain.”
Abdul Hamid urged the professionals, civil society members and government and private employees to give priority to the public interest and perform their respective duties and responsibilities with honestly and sincerity.
“Please keep in mind, the government’s image, success and failure fully depend on your conducts and responsibilities. So you need to bring about qualitative changes in your services as people’s servant”, the President said.
President Hamid also asked them to transform the government service centers into ‘people’s problem solution centers’.
Describing education as one of the key tools of country’s development and progress, he urged the teachers to provide proper teachings to make the children skilled and well-educated to compete in the global competition.
Mentioning the tremendous development of Charfassion, he said the overall development of many areas, including infrastructures, roads, educational institutions, local government institutions, river conservation and office courts, he called upon others to follow suit.
The President said the possibility of tourism here is bright, urging private entrepreneurs and local people to come forward alongside the government to utilize this possibility. He also put emphasis on increasing tourist safety and facilities to ensure the development of tourism industry.
Terming the construction of an 18-story 220-feet high tower as a groundbreaking step, Abdul Hamid hoped that the tower would contribute positively to attract both local and foreign tourists.
Inauguration of the modern and highest ‘Jacob Tower’ in the Southeast Asia is the beginning of a new horizon in the tourism industry of Bangladesh, he added.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, MP, Deputy Minister for Forest and Environment Abdullah Al Islam Jacob, MP, Afzal Hossain, MP, Ali Azam Mukul, MP, Charfassion Government College Principal Quisar Ahmed Dulal, Nurunabi Chowdhury Shaon, MP, and Mayor of Charfassion Municipality Shree Badal Krishna also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the President inaugurated four establishments – Principal Nazrul Islam Degree College, Begum Rohima Islam Degree College, Nazrul Islam Teachers’ Training college and Rasulpur-Awazpur Moitree Setu here.
President Hamid reached Charfassion at about 1:45 pm on a two-day visit to Bhola district. He is scheduled to address another public meeting in Bhola sadar upazila tomorrow.
