President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday unveiled the cover of a book titled ‘Gono Parishad Theke Nobom Jatiya Sangsad’ (From Constituent Assembly to Ninth Parliament).
The President launched the book written by former Deputy Speaker Col (retd) Shawkat Ali, MP, at a function at Bangabhaban. Abdul Hamid thanked the author for writing such an important book, saying this is very suitable for parliamentary democracy. “This book will be helpful for the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) to know about the activities of parliament and their responsibilities,” he added.
The President said the book will also help the present and future generation know about the history and background of the 1970 election, constituent assembly and formulation of the constitution.
Shawkat Ali depicted his experience as a member of parliament in the 336-page book published by Agamee Prakashani. It also contains the list of names of all members of the Constituent Assembly.
