President M Abdul Hamid expressed his profound shock at the death of former Chief Justice Mustafa Kamal.
In a message of condolence, the President recalled Mustafa Kamal’s invaluable contribution to Bangladesh’s judicial system and said a colourful chapter in the country’s judiciary has ended in his death.
“Justice Mustafa Kamal was always vocal to establish rule of law and uphold the independence of the judiciary,” he said.
President prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed deep regret over his demise. In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said a colorful chapter in the country’s judicial arena has come to an end at the death of Mustafa Kamal.
“He [Mustafa Kamal] was always very much vocal in establishing the rule of law in the country and keeping unharmed the independence of the judiciary,” she added.
Sheikh Hasina also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.
Giant of a Chief Justice: Mainul
In another condolence message, Barrister Mainul Hosein has expressed his deepest grief and sadness at the demise of former Chief Justice Mr Mustafa Kamal. He described him [Mustafa Kamal] as the giant of a Chief Justice, highly knowledgeable, brave and prudent, always anxious to apply law to do justice.
“His death is a great loss to the judiciary and to those who look for courage and inspiration for upholding the rule of law and justice,” Barrister Mainul also said in the statement.
