President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday wished success of National Income Tax Day 2015, to be observed in the country today.
In separate messages on the eve of the day, they greeted the taxpayers, income tax officials and employees and all concerned.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said tax plays an important role in balanced distribution of wealth and removing social disparity.
The President hoped that all responsible persons and organizations of the state would pay income taxes.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said there is no alternative to flourishing a tax culture to ensure the development of the socio-economic condition and infrastructure of the country, establish social justice and proper distribution of resources.
“We have simplified the existing income laws. Besides, now taxpayers are able to give taxes through online due to introducing of e-payment,” she said.
She said holding income tax fairs in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country is creating awareness among the people.
Noting that the target in income tax collection has already been surpassed, the Prime Minister called upon all concerned to sustain this success.
The Prime Minister hoped that the nation would be able to enhance internal resources to reduce dependence on foreign grants and build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
