President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged all including government, non-governmental organisations to work together for the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases.
In separate messages on the eve of the World Kidney Day 2019 to be observed today, the President and the Prime Minister hoped that the government, non-governmental organisations would play important role in boosting public awareness of kidney disease through various programmes. They described the theme of this year’s World Kidney Day ‘Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere’ as time-befitting.
President Hamid, in his message, said according to physicians uncontrolled and unhealthy lifestyle, the misuses of painkiller and antibiotic medicines, the use of tainted food and obesity are the main reasons for kidney disease. He urged everyone to come forward by extending their supports for insolvent kidney-patients.
The Awami League government has achieved groundbreaking success in the health sector with worldwide reorganisation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said, adding that the government is giving utmost importance to the prevention and treatment of kidney disease and efforts are going on in this regard.
The treatment of kidney disease is very expensive, she said, adding that, however, many kidney diseases are preventable. She said it is possible to detect kidney disease at the initial stage through community clinics, adding “This will reduce the risk of prolonged kidney disease as well as kidney failure.”
The Premier hoped that along with the government, non-governmental organisations will also play important role in boosting public awareness of kidney disease through various programmes.
Bangladesh Renal Association, Kidney Foundation and Bangladesh and Camps will jointly observe the World Kidney Day 2019 tomorrow in a befitting manner like other countries across the globe.
