President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the local and foreign agencies, voluntary organizations and the affluent section of society to come forward for the welfare of the people with disabilities.
In separate messages on the eve of the 17th National Day for Disabled and 24th International Day for Disabled, they wished success of all programmers of the day.
On this occasion, they greeted all people with disabilities, their families and organizations working for them.
The theme of the day this year is ‘Inclusive Matters: Access and Empowerment of People of All Abilities.”
In his message, President M Abdul Hamid said it is imperative to integrate people with disabilities with the mainstream of development to ensure their empowerment.
“People with disabilities are inseparable part of society. They would have to be developed as worthy citizens giving all facilities,” the President said and appreciated various government programmes taken for their development.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said all sorts of physical and mental disabilities are part of the human diversity.
She said the present government implemented various programmes since 2009 to link the disabled people with the mainstream of the development.
