Jail Killing Day: President, PM pay tributes to four national leaders

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday paid rich tributes to the four national leaders who were brutally killed in Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.
Close associates of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Liberation War heroes Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman fell victims to the killings in jail.
In separate messages on the eve of the Jail Killing Day, the President and the Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the four leaders.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid urged all to work together for building “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by Bangabandhu, through turning the grief of Jail killing into strength.
He said the contributions of the four national leaders to the history of the nation were immense.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message said, said the killings of four national leaders in the safe custody of jail is unprecedented in the world.
This incident was the sequel to the killing of the Father of the Nation and his family members, she said, adding that through these killings, the conspirators wanted to erase the name of Bangladesh Awami League and destroy the spirit of the Liberation War. Sheikh Hasina said the verdict of the Bangabandhu killing case has been executed and the jail killing case is under trial in the highest court of the country.
The trials of the war criminals are going on and verdict in a number of cases have already been delivered, she added.
