President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday paid their glowing tributes to the memories of Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani marking the 41st death anniversary of the veteran politician on Friday.
In his message on the eve of the day, the President recalled Moulana Bhasani’s life long struggle against the oppression and deprivation and his pioneering role in the country’s independence movement.
“Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani is a memorable name forever in the history of the country’s liberation movement,” the President said.
He (Bhasani) always stood beside the people during national crisis and inspired them for waging strong movements, President Abdul Hamid said, adding that Bhasani worked for the people and the country throughout his entire life.
The President hoped that the ideals of Moulana Bhasani will inspire the new generation to be imbued with the spirit of patriotism and the Liberation War.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bhasani was vocal against the repression of the Pakistani colonial rule and played a significant role in the expediting Bangalee nationhood.
“Moulana Bhasani had deep idealistic unity and political closeness with the Greatest Bengali of All Time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” the premier added.
She also said he (Bhasani) had struggled throughout his entire life to build an oppression-free, progressive, democratic and non-communal Bangladesh.
The President and the Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of the popular politician.
