President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday greeted the officials andemployees of the republic on the occasion of International Public Service Day – 2014.
In separate messages on the eve of the day, they hoped that the civil servants would be more active in discharging their duties with sincerity, devotion and efficiency through observance of the day.
In his message, the President said an efficient civil service is essential to fulfill hopes and aspirations of the people and establish good governance.
He appreciated the administrative reforms carried out by the ministry of public administration to reach the services to the doorstep of the people and expressed firm conviction that the civil servants would play a significant role in building Bangladesh as a prosperous country.
He urged the officials and employees of the republic to contain the spirit of the Liberation War and discharge their duties with utmost sincerity.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her statement, said the government is implementing various programmes to develop an efficient and dynamic public administration capable of fulfilling aspirations of the people.
“E-governance has been introduced to reach services to people’s doorstep. The 2nd generation Citizen’s Charter has been implemented. These programmes have enhanced the capability of the civil services by many times,” she added.
The Prime Minister hoped that the civil servants would do their duties with patriotism and devotion and remain ever ready to face any challenge.
She further hoped that Bangladesh would become a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by the greatest Bangalee of all times, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, through implementation of Vision 2021 and 2041 with concerted efforts of all.
