President, PM for better worker-owner relations

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday greeted the toiling masses across the world, including Bangladesh on the occasion of historic May Day.
In separate messages on the eve of the day, they expressed solidarity with the working class people and stressed good worker-owner relations for development of the country.
In his message, the President called for establishing good worker- owner relations, ensuring fair wages and safe and congenial workplace and enhancing skills of workers.
There is no alternative to manufacturing world class products to survive in the competitive world, he added.
The President appreciated the government’s labour friendly activities and said the government is carrying out various development activities, including ensuring safe work atmosphere and fixing the lowest wage for the workers.
Now the working class people are getting the benefit of these activities, he added.
The government has announced ‘Vision 2021’ to upgrade the country into a middle income country by 2015, the President said and suggested sustaining the existing good worker-owner relations in the country to reach the goal.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid deep respect to the people who embraced martyrdom to establish fundamental rights of the working people in Chicago in 1886.
She said greatest Bengali of all times Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had struggled throughout his life for realizing rights of the deprived and working class people of the country.
“We are relentlessly working to follow the ideals of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the welfare of the working people,” the Prime Minister said.
The present government has reopened mills and factories closed during the BNP-Jamaat regime, she said.
