President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged all to work together to create awareness among the people about prevention and treatment of kidney disease.
In separate messages on the eve of the World Kidney Day 2017 to be observed on Thursday, the President and the Prime Minister said the number of kidney patients is gradually increasing in the country because of defective birth, genetic disorders, nephritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and taking of pain killing drugs.
They described the theme of this year’s World Kidney Day “Kidney Disease and Obesity: Healthy lifestyle for healthy kidney” as time-befitting.
In his message, Abdul Hamid said observance of the World Kidney Day 2017 would help create awareness among the people about kidney diseases, its prevention and treatment.
“I think that creating awareness among people about the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases is very important at this moment,” the President said.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said treatment of kidneydisease is very expensive but if some health related rules are maintained, this disease can easily be prevented.
She said the present government has been implementing different programmes for ensuring healthcare facilities for all including the kidney patients.
