President M Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the Hajj programme- 2019 at the hajj camp in the capital’s Ashkona area today.
After the inaugural programme as the chief guest, the President will exchange greetings with the hajj pilgrims.
Usually, the Prime Minister inaugurates the programme every year. But the PM’s is now on a five-day official visit to China.
“The Hajj camp is ready to serve all kinds of service to the Hajj pilgrims” Saiful Islam, Director of the Hajj Camp said.
This year, the hajj flights carrying Bangladeshi pilgrims to Saudi Arabia will begin on July 4.
The Civil Aviation has already taken all kinds of preparation for a hassle free hajj flight, said a Biman press release on Monday.
It said, the first hajj flight carrying 419 pilgrims will take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:15am on July for Saudi Arabia. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali and State Minister of Religious Affairs Advocate Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah will see-off the Hajj pilgrims at the airport.
This year, a total of 1,27,198 pilgrims will perform Hajj from Bangladesh. As per the agreement, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry 50 per cent of the total pilgrims, while the rest by the Saudi Airlines.
Of them, 7,198 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government management and the rest under private management. From this year, flights carrying the hajj pilgrims will also go to Madinah.
