President inaugurates ‘National Vitamin A-plus Campaign’

President Abdul Hamid on Friday inaugurated the “National Vitamin A-plus Campaign- 2015” (Second Round) with a call to make the vaccination campaign a success for building a beautiful Bangladesh.
Launching the campaign nationwide by administering Vitamin A-plus capsules to a number of children at Bangabhaban here, the President urged parents to take their children aged from six months to 59 months to their nearby vaccination centres for feeding this life-saving capsule.
Over 2.14 crore children will be fed Vitamin A-plus capsules during the daylong national campaign today.
Children, aged between six and 11 months, will be given the blue-coloured high-powered Vitamin A capsules, while children, aged between 12 to 59 months, will receive the red-coloured ones.
Addressing the occasion, Abdul Hamid said the children are the future of the nation and the government has been working relentlessly for building a beautiful Bangladesh for them.
“We’ll be able to build a beautiful Bangladesh for the next generation if we can make the vaccination programme a success,” he added.
Some 120,000 permanent health centres and 20,000 mobile centres will be set up at bus stands, railway stations, launch terminals, airports, ferry terminals, bridge toll centres and “kheya ghats” to feed the children Vitamin A capsules from 8 am to 4 pm.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim and Health Secretary Syed Monjurul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
