President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday asked all to observe ‘Jatka Preservation Week 2015’ effectively to boost production of Hilsa, the national fish of Bangladesh.
In a message on the occasion of ‘Jatka Preservation Week 2015’, the President said national fish Hilsa has a close relation with the food-habit and culture of Bengalis. The contribution of Hilsa to employment generation, ensuring supply of protein and country’s economic development is very important, he said.
Terming the year’s slogan of the week ‘Protect Jatka, Increase Hilsa Production’ as time-befitting, the President said proper preservation and supervisory measures are very important for increasing the production of Hilsa.
He hoped that the people belonging to all professions, including fishermen, businessmen, public representatives and media will come forward to make the week a success.
