President for quality education at varsities

President M Abdul Hamid asked the university authorities to take realistic steps along with suitable curriculums to help the students acquire world-standard knowledge of contemporary issues.
He came up with the call on Sunday as Vice-Chancellors of three universities – Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Major General Md Salahuddin Miaji, Prof Dr M Giasuddin Miah of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University (BSMAU) and Prof Dr Al-Nakib Chowdhury of Pabna Science and Technology University (PSTU) called on him separately at Bangabhaban here.
“The President has directed the university authorities to ensure world-standard and quality education at the varsities,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meetings.
Terming the university as the highest seat of learning, the President categorically urged the authorities concerned to take realistic measures to prepare the students to face the global competition with necessary academic knowledge.
Abdul Hamid also stressed the need for research activities in the universities and for developing new varieties of flood-tolerant crops aiming to cope with the adverse effects of climate change.
The President was apprised by the Vice-Chancellors of overall activities of their universities, including recent infrastructural development, academic activities and future plan.
