President for expanding research activities in veterinary sector

President M Abdul Hamid asked the authorities of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) to accelerate the research activities to ensure a technology-based sustainable development at all the sectors especially veterinary one.
The President came up with the call as a delegation of the university called on him at Bangabhaban on the seventh instant.
Referring to the role of fisheries and livestock sector in developing socio-economic development of the country, President Hamid said, “The invention of sustainable technology is urgent to ensure development of country’s veterinary and animal science.”
Besides, the President advised the university authorities to ensure the use of those technologies properly in field level.
Abdul Hamid also stressed the need for protecting the indigenous species of fisheries and livestock by taking different pragmatic steps.
The President was apprised of various development and research activities of the university by CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Goutam Buddha Das who led the four-member delegation.
Meanwhile, a six-member delegation of East West University (EWU) led by Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairman of Board of Directors, also called on the President in the evening.
The President, also the Chancellor of the university, was formally invited to preside over the next month’s EWU convocation, where former Indian President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee is scheduled to be present as the convocation speaker.
President Hamid asked the EWU authorities to provide more scopes to the poor and meritorious students so that they would be able to obtain higher education.
The members of the delegation include Member of the Board Syed Manjur Elahi, HN Ashikur Rahman, MP, Nazma Ahmed and Vice-Chancellor Professor M M Shahidul Hassan.
