President Abdul Hamid on Sunday put emphasis on ensuring quality higher education along with proper campus facilities at the country’s all private universities. The President, who is also chancellor of all universities, made the remark while a delegation of Daffodil International University called on him at Bangabhaban on Sunday afternoon. The university’s Board of Trustees Chairman M Sabur Khan led the six-member delegation comprising Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President of various preparations of the university’s 4th convocation to be held on March 6 on its own campus at Ashulia. They informed the President that the university has built its own campus on a 40-acre plot in Ashulia with facilities of all famous sports.
The delegation members apprised the President that world-renowned Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of the reputed institution Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology University (KIIT) in Odisha, India will attend the function as the convocation speaker.
The university delegation also apprised the President that a total of 3,252 students will be conferred graduation and post-graduation degrees at the convocation.
They informed the President that the university has started a four-year graduation course on entrepreneurship aiming at increasing young entrepreneurs in the country.
Presently, 12,000 students are studying at the university and, of them, 4,800 received laptops at free of cost, they added. President Abdul Hamid gave them a patient hearing and appreciated the university’s efforts to offer quality education. Secretaries concerned of the President’s office were present.
