President calls for strengthening communal harmony

President Abdul Hamid on Sunday urged people of all religions to further strengthen the existing fraternity and friendly bonding with a view to ensuring national advancement and prosperity.
“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. People of all religions of Bangladesh have been observing their respective religion from the time immemorial upholding mutual amity, cordiality and unity,” the President said while speaking at a reception here.
The President hosted the reception for the Hindu community at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matior Rahman was present at the reception.
Leaders and personalities of Hindu community and people from various professions of the community joined the reception.
High commissioner of India and ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh were also present on the occasion.
President and his wife Rashida Khanam welcomed the guests to Bangabhaban and exchanged greetings with them.
