President M Abdul Hamid on Thursday asked members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to gain people’s trust through their works.
“Discharge your duties and responsibilities sincerely and honestly to protect rights of common people”, the President told members of an NHRC delegation that submitted its annual report-2016 to the President at Bangabhaban here.
Terming the NHRC an important institution, President Hamid urged all concerned to protect rights of members of the public at all stages.
“The President was apprised of overall activities of the human rights commission including different aspects of the annual report”, President’s Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS.
The NHRC Chairman sought cooperation of the President to continue the activities of the commission in a proper manner.
President Hamid assured the delegation of providing all necessary supports for the NHRC to carry out its activities.
NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque led the five-member delegation. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
