Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Wednesday termed the present government as a mass media- friendly government, saying that it has taken various measures for the welfare of the journalists of newspapers and electronic media.
Replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Begum Pinu Khan (women seat-23), the minister said the article 39 of Bangladesh constitution has ensured freedom of speech and independence of newspapers.
“As per the directives of constitution as well as the election manifesto of 2008 and 2014, the government has been working sincerely to ensure independence of mass media and free flow of information meaning flourishing of mass media,” he said.
Inu said the present government has implemented the 8th Wage Board for the journalists and also formed the 9th Wage Board for them on January 29 this year.
