The government should prepare a roadmap to ensure the energy security in industries, said Md Jashim Uddin, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
He spoke on Monday at a virtual meeting of the FBCCI’s standing committee on power, energy and utilities. The industrialists are facing uncertainty as to whether gas and electricity will be available at the time of setting up the new factory, and what the prices will be in the future, he said. A roadmap on energy will remove these uncertainties, he added. Humayun Rashid, chairman of the standing committee, said that the use of domestic resources has to be increased to ensure energy security in the country in the long run. Citing the example of Sri Lanka, Rashid, also the managing director and chief executive officer of Energy Pack Power Generation Limited, said the energy crisis worsens the country’s suffering.
