A preparatory seminar for MBBS students before going to a month long trip in rural areas was held at Gono Bishwabidyalay. Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College organized the program at university old campus on Saturday.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, renowned journalist and joint editor of Daily Prothom Alo and Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Trustee of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and Gono Bishwabidyalay were present as special speakers. Mizanur Rahman Khan said in his speech, medical ethics are very much neglected in our country. Here the medical certificate was renewed for money not to evaluate the doctor’s performance.
Zafrullah Chowdhury said, most of the people of our country live in the rural areas. If we want to give them proper treatment, we have to go village to know them. He also emphasized to ensure accountability of a doctor.
The teachers of Medical, Physiotherapy and Sociology & social work department took part in the seminar. Every year the university organized a month long trip for MBBS and Physiotherapy students to gain firsthand experience about our rural healthcare system.
