Dupchanchia (Bogra) Correspondent :Preparations for holding Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu Communities in the country, are progressing fast throughout the upazila as the commencement of the annual event draws nearer. The 4-day long festival of the largest community will begin this year from September 30 with due respect and religious fervor. The festival will conclude on October 3 through the immersion of idols at different water bodies as the community will celebrate the Bijoya Dashami. President of upazila Puja Celebration Parishad Osim Kumar Das said a total of 60 puja mandaps would be erected in all the six union in the district this year. The number of puja mandaps increased by 6 this year than the previous year, he also said. Of the total, some 9 puja mandaps would be erected in Gunaher union, 8 inGobindapur union, 9 in Sadar union, 10 in Chamrul union, 12 in Talora union and12 in Zianagar union upazila of the district. A preparatory meeting to celebrate the festival peacefully was held at the conference room of upazila nirbahi office here on September 22 with uno Saifur Rahman in the chair. In the meeting, the leaders of Bangladesh Puja Utjapon Parishad, upazila units, decided not to beat the drums and other musical instruments during the time of prayers of the Muslim community. Gazipur Correspondent adds: Pujare and makers of puja mondap in Gazipur are passing busy time on the occasion of coming Durga Puja.The Durga Puja will be held in 322 mondaps in Gazipur. All preparations near complete to observe the eligious festival of Hidu communities .Organisers for Durga Puja hoped that people of Hindu community will be able to observe the Durga Puja with nice discipline. BSS from Jessore adds: Much enthusiasm now prevails among the Hindu Community at different places in eight upazilas of the district in connection with the five-day long Durga Puja, one week ago of the festival.District Puja Udjapon Committee Secretary Dipankar Das Ratan said almost 85 percent works of the idols had already been completed and rest of the works would be completed within next five days.
