Preparations are almost completed to welcome “Pahela Baishakh”, the first day of the Bangla New year of 1424 on April 14 in the district.
Different socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions chalked out various programmes to celebrate the day with pomp and gaiety.
Bagerhat district administration designed an official elaborate programme in line with the national programme to mark the day. Apart from this, the district and police administrations have also taken a foolproof security arrangement for smooth and peaceful celebration of Pahela Baishakh without any untoward incident.
The day’s programmes will be formally started with a colourful Barsabaron Utsab from the Swadhinata Udyan in the morning carrying placards and festoons.
Sylhet Correspondent adds: The authorities of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and district police here have taken extra security measures to avert any untoward incident on Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year. The authorities took decision to deploy police personnel and RAB members for uninterrupted celebration of Pahela Boishakh in the Sylhet city and district.
SMP sources said, they would deploy police personnel at every points and set up check posts in different strategic places in the metropolis as part of its security measures.
