District Administration has taken up elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning Day on August 15, the 39th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in the district with due respect.
The daylong programmes were adopted at a meeting in presence of leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, heads of educational institutions, representatives from socio-cultural organizations and journalists of print and electronic media, office sources said.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: The district administration here has finalized programmes to observe the National Mourning Day and 39th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
The programmes were finalised at a preparatory meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office yesterday, in line with the national programmes, after elaborate discussions with Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury in the chair.
Senior Awami League (AL) leaders, heads of different govt. non- government departments and educational institutions, freedom fighters (FF), professionals, socio- cultural activists, local elite and lawyers took part in the meeting.
BSS from Jessore says: The district administration on Tuesday chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning Day and 39th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
A meeting was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here in this regard.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir presided over the meeting while ADC (Gen) Zahid Hossen Panir, ADC (Education and ICT) Sabina Yasmin, Superintendent of Jessore Medical College Hospital Dr Yakub Ali Mollah, District Muktijoddha Commander Rajek Ahmed, Principal Sultan Ahmed and district level officials spoke.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Elaborate programmes have been taken to observe the National Mourning Day-2014 and 39th martyrdom of the architect of independent Bangladesh and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman here on August 15.
The programmes were finalised at a meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner on Monday afternoon with Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad in the chair.
Sylhet Correspondent adds: Jubo League, Sylhet City Unit recalled the contributions of the martyrs through lighting of the candles. August is the month of mourning of the Bengalees.
On 15 August, 1975 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed along with the members of his family as a part of native and international conspiracies.
This makes the nation concerned with grief. Again, the nation vows to establish the Golden Bengal by overcoming all the conspiracies and taking revenge of the killing.
It is celebrated every year. It is observed at 12.01 midnight on Friday, the 15th August by lighting the candles at the Central Shaheed Minar.
