Preparations afoot to clebrate Durga Puja in dists

All preparations have been completed to hold Durga Puja, the religious festival of the Hindu Community, in the district with due religious fervor, gaiety and solemnity.
General Secretary of District Puja Celebration Parishad Principal Paresh Chandra Saha said 579 puja mandaps have been erected in seven upazilas in the district this year.
Of them, some 92 mandaps have been erected at Sadar upazila, 118 at
Gobindaganj upazila, 129 at Sundarganj upazila, 101 at Sadullapur upazila, 64 at Palashbari upazila, 60 at Shaghata upazila and 15 at Fulchhari upazila, he said.
Hindu Community people of all ages are rushing to the markets for purchasing puja clothes to celebrate their greatest religious festival from tomorrow with much enthusiasm and religious fervor.
The whole district has taken a festive look and the devotees are getting ready to welcome the upcoming event with great enthusiasm. The festival will conclude on September 30 through the immersion of the idols after celebrating the Bijoya Dashami.
Initiative has been taken to provide uninterrupted power supply to the puja mandaps at nights to facilitate puja, archana, kirtons, arati and other religious rituals.
Superintendent of police (SP) M. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said tight security measures have been taken in and around of all the puja mandaps to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for holding the puja festival smoothly.
Control room has been opened at the office of the deputy commissioner here side by side with seven upazila headquarters each to watch the law and order situation in all the puja mandaps, the SP also said.
BSS from Khulna adds: The government has allotted over 472 tonnes of rice to distribute among 944 Puja mandaps in Khulna district and city with a view to making the celebration of Durga Puja,
the biggest festival of Banglee Hindu community, smooth and peaceful.
District Relief and Disaster Management Officer Azizul Haque Zoarder today said each puja mandap would get 500 kgs of rice.
He said, “The government is proving the rice to the people of Hindu community to make the celebration of Durga Puja smooth.”
Meanwhile, Khulna City Corporation authorities will disburse Taka 5.17 lakh among 74 puja mandaps.
