All necessary preparations have been completed to celebrate the Independence and National Day- 2017 with huge enthusiasm and festivity tomorrow here as elsewhere in the country.
The district administration, City Corporation, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies, political parties and other organisations have taken day-long programmes to celebrate the Day.
The daylong programmes include hoisting of the national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions and other establishments.
The observance will begin through heralding 31 gun salutes on Police Lines Ground and placing of wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar, Swadhinota Smritistambha ‘Arjan’ and monuments of martyred freedom fighters (FFs) in the city.
Mayor of Rangpur Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu will first place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed, DIG Humayun Kabir and Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar and high officials will place wreaths Swadhinota Smritistambha ‘Arjan’ in the city.
Leaders of AL and its associate bodies, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, BNP, Jatiya Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Gano Forum, Ganotantry Party, Workers Party, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Communist Party of Bangladesh and other originations will place wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The main streets and roadside islands will be decorated with the national flag, posters and miniatures and the government, semi-government and private buildings will be illuminated in the evening in the divisional city.
Colourful rallies, march past of freedom fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, scouts, girls in scout, fire service and civil defense personnel, jail guards, BNCC, students, children and screening of documentary films at cinema halls and open places will be organised.
Drawing competitions for children on the War of Liberation, charity football match, competitions, cultural functions, prize distribution ceremonies and discussion meetings will be organised.
BSS from Rajshah reports: Rajshahi City Corporation and district administration together with various political, social and cultural organizations and educational institutions including Rajshahi University chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Independence and National Day 2017 here tomorrow with much enthusiasm and patriotic zeal.
The day’s programmes will begin with heralding of 31 gun salutes at Police Line and placing of floral wreaths at the altar of the city’s Shaheed Miners at the zero hours. The programmes are also included hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, institutions, reception to the FFs and screening of documentary films at different cinema halls and other open places.
A combined march-past of the police, ansar-VDP, fire service, BNCC, scouts, girl guides, jail guards and students of different educational institutions will be held at district stadium in the morning. Divisional Commissioner will hoist the national flag and witness the march-past and physical display.
In the noon, the valiant freedom fighters will be accorded reception at Green Plaza of Nagar Bhaban.
Sports and discussion will be organized for the women on Riverview Collectorate School ground in the afternoon.
Competition on arts, patriotic songs and poetry recitation will be held for the school and college students on the occasion.
Improved diets will be served among the inmates of hospitals, prison, safe homes, orphans and SOS.
BSS from Khulna says: Khulna district administration, political parties and socio-cultural organizations here are set to observe the 47th Independence Day tomorrow.
To observe the day, Khulna district administration has taken elaborate programmes. The programmes were finalized at a preparatory meeting at the conference room of deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on March 7.
Chaired by Khulna DC Nazmul Hasan, the meeting was attended by freedom fighters, officials, educationists, journalists, political and cultural activists of the city.
A 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Line Ground will herald the Independence Day.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdus Samad will hoist the national flag at Khulna Zilla School Ground and will take salute from the parade.
Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competitions for children on the occasion.
A discussion meeting and a reception to the freedom fighters will be held at the conference room of the DC office.
National flags will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings at dawn and wreaths would be placed by the people of all walks of life at the Gallyamary monument on the day.
Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples and churches, seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country.
Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanages and jails on the day.
State-run Khulna Betar will broadcast special programmes while the local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
Khulna BISIC will organize a two-day handicraft fair on Khulna Public Hall premises.
Besides, Khulna city and district units of Awami League have been chalked out different programme to observe the Independence Day.
The programmes include hoisting of national and party flags and to place wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman and at the Gallamary martyrdom memorial.
BSS from Bhola adds: Bhola district administration has taken various programmes to celebrate the Independence and National Day here tomorrow with much enthusiasm.
The observance will begin through heralding 31 gun salutes and placing wreaths at the monument of martyred freedom fighters by deputy commissioner (DC) of Bhola on the premises of Collectorate building in the town at dawn.
The programmes also included hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings and institutions, reception to the FFs and screening of documentary films at cinema halls.
A reception will be accorded to the freedom fighters in the conference room of DC office under the auspices of the district administration at 12noon.
Art competition, rendering patriotic songs and poetry recitation will be held for school and college students on the occasion.
