Preparations afoot to celebrate Amar Ekushey

A preparatory meeting to chalk out an elaborate program in observance of the Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day-2018 was held at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference room here on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Shubash Chandra Biswas presided over the meeting while Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahabub Hasan Shain conducted it, attended by eminent personalities from all walks of life and professions.
The meeting decided for arranging a book fair and photo exhibition in the district town on 21 February.
The meeting also formed seven sub-committees to observe the Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner amid much enthusiasm. The day’s programme will begin at 12.01 am on 21st February through placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar beside the local Moslehuddin Bhuiyan stadium.
The programme includes discussion meeting, literary competition, art and essay writing and hand writing competition for children, cultural function and special Munajat seeking divine blessings for language martyrs. On the day, national flag will be hoisted at half must atop all the government and private buildings and educational institutions across the district.
BSS from Rangpur says: The district administration have taken elaborate programmes to observe the “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2018” in a befitting manner here on February 21 next.
“The programmes were finalised at a meeting held at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner on Monday last with Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman in the chair,” Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ruhul Amin Mian said.
Officials of the district and upazila administrations, heads of different government departments and educational institutions, sociocultural, political and professional activists and civil society members attended the meeting. The observance will begin at one minute past after midnight on February 21 through placing wreaths at Central Shaheed Minar here to pay due respect to Language Movement Martyrs.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Kazi Hasan Ahmed and Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Khondker Golam Faruk will place wreaths there.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman and Police Super Mizanur Rahman along with other officials will also place wreaths there to be followed by the other government and non-government departments and organisations. Leaders of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Awami League (AL) and other political parties, professional organisations and common people will also place wreaths there to pay homage to the Language Martyrs.
The other programmes include hoisting of national flag at half-mast atop all government and private buildings and educational institutions, bringing out ‘probhat ferry’, decoration of the city streets with miniature national and coloured-flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
BSS from Gaibandha reports: Local administration has taken elaborate programmes to observe the Shaheed Dibash and International Mother Language Day on February 21 in a befitting manner and with due respect.
A preparatory meeting was recently held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) of Gaibandha with DC Gautam Chandra Pal in the chair, said Nezarat Deputy Collector MM Ashik Reza.
Government officials, freedom fighters, heads of the educational institutions, professionals, socio-cultural activists, political leaders and eminent citizens and journalists, among others, attended the meeting.
Floral wreaths will be placed at the local Shaheed Minar of the poura park and other Shaheed Minars here at zero hour on February 21 while the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in all the government, semi government, private and academic institutions in the morning of the day.
The programmes of the day also include offering of special prayers at the places of worship and holding discussion, cultural functions, art and essay writing competitions and prize distribution ceremony.

The day long programmes were chalked out in a meeting held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner recently with deputy commissioner Rabbi Mia in the chair.
Officials of the district, upazila and union parishad administrations, heads of different government department, educational institutions, freedom fighters, businessmen of Narayanganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, councilors of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC), members of civil society, political leaders and media men attended the meeting.
The programme will begin after one minute past 12 midnight on February 21 through placing wreaths at Chasara Shaheed Minar to pay homage to the language movement martyrs.
The other programme includes hoisting of national flag at half mast atop all public and private buildings and educational intuitions.
Decoration of Shaheed Minar and roads inscribed with Bangla alphabets. Besides, competitions for the children on drawing, essay writing, hand writing and rendering patriotic song will be held under arrangement of Narayanganj Shishu Academy and Shilpakola Academy.

The screening of documentary film show on language movement will be held by Narayanganj district information office at Chasara in the evening.
Narayanganj online radio stationed at DC office will air special programme on the significance of Amar Ekushey and special prayer will be offered in mosques, temples and churches for the peace and prosperity of the country in the evening.
