Brothers Union earn 129-run
victory over Mohammedans

Brothers Union Club registered the 4th victory in their 10th match of the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League outplaying Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 129 runs at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, national coloured opener Junaid Siddique scored a ton to guide the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union for a moderate total of 276 runs for 8 in a reduced 49-over-a-side match.
Junaid Siddique hammered a century making 110 runs off 123 balls with eight hits to the fence and was adjudged man of the match.
Former national cricketer cum Brothers captain Alok Kapali contributed a half century making 48-ball 51 runs with seven fours, one down Mohammad Rubel scored 55-ball 36 runs with three fours and six while Indian MS Bisla made 22-ball 26 runs, hitting two sixes.
National coloured spinner Taijul Islam, former national spinner Enamul Haque Jr and Sajedul Islam captured two wickets each conceding 41, 52 and 62 runs respectively.
In reply, Dhaka Mohammedan SC were dismissed cheaply for 147 runs in 35.4 overs, despite making 103 runs for 2 in 21.2 overs.
After dismissal of opener Shamsur Rahman for 16 runs in 5.4 overs. another opener Shykat Ali pairing with one down Avishek Mitra carried the team total to a respectable position contributing 87 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Shykat Ali hammered 66-ball 70 runs with four hits across the rope and five over the rope while Avishek Mitra contributed 51-ball 29 runs with help of two boundaries. Moahmmedan skipper and top order national batsman Raqibul Hasan made 16-ball 17 runs with three fours.
Iftekhar Sajjad claimed four wickets for 19 runs while Nihaduzzaman and Kamrul Islam took two each for 31 runs each.

Kalabagan KC force Gazi Group to taste first defeat

Lowly rated Kalabagan Krira Chakra made the biggest upset in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League forcing league leader Gazi Group Cricketers to taste the first defeat by huge 127 runs at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.
Despite the day’s maiden defeat after nine consecutive wins, Gazi Group Cricketers maintained the top in the league table with 18 points from 10 matches while Kalabagan KC improved their position in the league table securing six points from 10 encounters.
Sent into bat first in the day’s match, Kalabagan KC scored 222 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs, featuring a century by opener Tasamul Haque.
Tasamul Haque hammered a ton scoring 102 runs off 132 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and was adjudged man of the match.
Former national cricketer Tushar Imran scored 43-ball 32 runs with a boundary, another opener Jashimuddin made 28 and Pakistani batsman Saad Nasim 20 runs.
Indian Parvez Rasool made the damage in Kalabagan innings grabbing four wickets for 44 runs in 10 overs.
Chasing an easy target, high flying Gazi Group Cricketers were surprisingly bundled out for 95 runs in 32.5 overs.
After the departure of seven top order batsmen, including national opener Anamul Haque (16) for 42 runs in 12.4 overs, number seven batsman Nadif Chowdhury fought hard for their existence contributing 45 runs off 67 balls featuring three fours and one six, but failed.
Apart from opener Anamul Haque 16 runs, tail-ender Abu Hyder (11) was the other Gazi Group batsman reaching double figures.
Sanjit Saha and Saad Nasim grabbed three wickets each conceding 7 and 12 runs respectively while Tushar Imran and Abul Hasan took two wickets each giving away 19 and 24 runs respectively.

Sk Jamal beat Prime Bank by 2 wkts

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured 6th win in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League beating Prime Bank Cricket Club by two wickets in the 10th round game at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground 4 in Savar on Thursday.
Sk Jamal chased down a target of 271 for 8 in 49.5 overs after restricting Prime Bank at 270 for 9 in 50 overs.
Sohag Gazi made a half century of 54 off 62 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, for the winners while Prashant Chopra (48 off 55b; 5×4; 1×6) and man of the match Elias Sunny (44 off 47b; 3×4; 1×6) were two other top-scorers for the side.
Ariful Haque captured four wickets for 75 runs in 9.5 overs for Prime Bank.
Prime Bank top-order batsmen showed better form with 1st and 3rd stands, but finally could not ripen their fruits due to poor batting demonstration in the lower order.
Skipper Mehedi Maruf and Zakir Hasan shared 94 in 18.5 overs in the opening stand. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Al-Amin shared another 94 runs, but in 16.4 overs in the 3rd stand.
Maruf hit a half century of 61 off 68 balls, including five boundaries and two over boundaries, while Easwaran hammered another half century scoring 54 off 64 balls which witnessed two fours and two sixes.
Al-Amin (42 off 43b; 3×4; 1×6), Zakir Hasan (34 off 56b; 3×4; 1×6) and Asif Ahmed (31 off 30b; 1×4) were other top-scorers for the side that was sent in to bat first.
Pace bowler Shahadat Hossain bagged two wickets for 43 runs in eight overs for the winners.
After round 10, Sk Jamal holding 5th place in the 12-team league table collecting 12 points with six wins and four losses.
Despite the day’s loss, Prime Bank remained above Sk Jamal. The bankers’ side collected 14 points, having seven wins and three losses.
