Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club earned the 4th win in their 5th match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League beating all-losers Partex SC by three wickets at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Sunday.
In the day’s other matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC secured the 3nd victory in their 5th match defeating another all-losers Victoria SC by seven wickets at BKSP ground-4 in Savar while Brothers Union registered their 2nd consecutive victory in the league beating Khaleghar SKS by a huge 71 runs at BKSP ground-3 in Savar.
In Fatullah, Partex SC batted first after winning the toss and were all out for 201 runs in 46.3 overs with opener Jonny Talukder contributing the match-highest 65 runs off 84 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes.
Besides, Indian Paras Dogra (30), Sajjad Hossain (26) and Irfan Sukkur (19) were the other main contributors for Partex SC.
Veteran national spinner and Sheikh Jamal captain Abdur Razzak grabbed five wickets conceding 22 runs in his 8.3 overs and was adjudged man of the match while Tanvir Hyder took two wickets for 47 runs.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal DC scored the match-winner 202 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 45.2 overs with opener Mahbubul Karim quickfiring 27-ball 42 runs, hitting four fours and three sixes.
Besides, Tanvir Hyder (not out 34), all rounder Shohag Gazi (31),opener Fazle Mahmud (26) and Elias Sunny (23) were the other notable scorers for Sheikh Jamal DC.
Mamun Hossain claimed three wickets for 37 runs while Nuruzzaman Masum took two wickets for 43 runs.
Sent into bat first at BKSP ground-4, Victoria SC were bundled out for 154 runs in 40 overs with opener Rubel Miah making the team highest 42 runs, Moinul Islam 27 and Indian Robin Bist 21 runs.
National coloured Taijul Islam bagged four wickets for 37 runs, spinner Eanmul Haque Junior grabbed three wickets for 31 runs while Shamsur Rahman picked -up two wickets for 30 runs.
Chasing an easy target, Mohammedan SC played only 30 overs to score match-winning 158 runs for the loss of only three wickets.
Top order national coloured batsman Shamsur Rahman hammered a polished and unconquered 74 runs off 77 deliveries with seven fours and two sixes to be adjudged man of the match.
Besides, Avishek Mitra scored an unbeaten 39 off just 25 balls with four fours and two sixes, skipper and national coloured batsman Raqibul Hassan made 20 and opener Ronny Talukder 19 runs.
Monir Hossain, Mahbubul Alam and Moinul Islam took one wicket each giving away 19, 38 and 48 runs respectively.
Sent into bat first in the day’ other match, Brothers Union Club piled up comfortable 267 runs for 6 in stipulated 50 overs.
Two down batsman Musukur Rahman hammered an unbeaten 84 runs off 90 balls hitting five fours and three sixes and was adjudged the man of the match.
Besides, one down Farhad Hossain (67), opener Mizanur Rahman (48) and lower order Dhiman Ghosh (not out 42) were the other major contributors for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers.
Tanvir Islam captured three wickets for 49 runs.
In reply, Khelaghar SKS was forced to fold their innings at 196 runs for 9 in quota 50 overs with one down Nazimuddin making 68 runs off 100 balls featuring two fours and two sixes.
Tailender Dollar mahmud scored not out 53 runs off 59 balls with three fours and two sixes while skipper Nafees Iqbal made 22 runs.
Nihaduzzaman took three wickets for 37 runs while former national all rounder Alok Kapali took two for 24 runs.
