A 9 months pregnant woman Niva Khatun (29) died in a fire set by her drunken father-in law at the remote Alokdia Char under Shibalayaupazila in Manikganj.
The incident took place on Thursday (March 11) in which her son-in-law Billal Hossain was also injured. Injured Billal has been sent to Pabna for treatment.
Julhas, a suspected robber, in an intoxicated state set fire to her tin-shed house around 3am on Thursday. The house caught fire quickly due to the presence of salo machine oil inside the house.
Niva’s husband Soleiman is working as an excavator operator in a company in Rajshahi. Niva was the mother of a son and 2 daughters.
Shibalaya police inspector Firoz Kabir said the body was sent to Manikganj morgue for autopsy. Necessary steps will be taken after investigating the incident.
