Sylhet BCL man murder: Pranajit confesses involvement

Activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Pranajit Das reportedly made a confessional statement before a court here on Saturday over the killing of a fellow activist at Madanmohan College in the city on Wednesday.
Judge Anwarul Haque of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 reordered the statement of Pranajit Under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station and investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court at noon.
In his statement, the accused described before the court why they killed their fellow Ali Ahmed.
Earlier on Thursday, the court placed Pranajit Das on a two-day remand in the case.
Victim’s father Aklis Miah filed the case against the five BCL activists, including Pranajit, and 3-4 unidentified people with Kotwali Police Station on Thursday.
Two BCL men-Pranajit and Angur Miah-were arrested in connection with the murder.
BCL activist Ali Ahmed, 19, a 2nd year student of the college, and son of Aklis Mia of Shilam village in Dakkhin Surma upazila, was killed in a factional clash over establishing control over Madanmohan College in Sylhet city on Wednesday.
