Former Indian President Pranab Mukerjee paid rich tributes to the anti-British revolutionary leaders Master Surya Sen and Pritilata Waddeder by placing wreath at the sculpture of these great revolutionary leader of the subcontinent erected at Raozan and in city’s European club on Tuesday afternoon . In Raozan visiting Indian leader inaugurated the Surya Sen Memorial Library beside the sculpture. Pranab Mukerjee also signs Memoir Book with few lines comment placed in memorial library . During his presence at Raozan Surya Sen square, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railway ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP, Raozan Upazila Chairman Ehsanul Haider Chowdhury Babul, Surya Sen Library President Shamal Kumar Palit were present among others. Later, visiting Indian leader rushed to ancestral home of Surya Sen at Noapara village under Raozan upazila at about 5 pm. In Noapara, PranabMukerjee paid tributes to Surya Sen at latter’s mausoleum and plants a sapling of tree beside Mausoleum. Later he goes round the Surya Sen Maternity and Child welfare complex there. During his visit in complex , he was accompanied by his daughter Sharmista Mukerjee, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP and Indian High commissioner in Bangaldesh Mr. Harshabardan Sringla. Hundred thousands of people in Raozan beside the road from Raozan to Noapara conveyed Adab, Namaskar to the visiting leader by raising hands.The visiting leader and his daughter talked with several man and women within the areas of Surya Sen house in a cordial atmosphere. The visiting Indian leaders stayed at Noapara for about thirty minutes and then left for Chittagong city, our Raozan correspondent Mir Aslam added.
Meanwhile vice-chancellor of Chittagong University Dr. Iftekharuddin Chowdhury handed over the D. Litt degree, crest, scarf and portrait to the ex-Indian President Pranab Mukerjee in a special convocation ceremony on campus Tuesday (Tuesday 17)morning.
Pranab Mukherjee after receipt of D.Lt Degree said, “I am grateful to Chittagong University. I am overwhelmed feeling honor and dignity as you have awarded D. Litt degree to an ordinary man like me.”

The then British Government established European club which was attacked by a armed group led by Pritilata Waddedar who later embraced martyrdom by consuming cyanide to evade arrest by the British army. Mukharjee also witnessed the arms depot used by British army, located beneath the wood made structure.
Before leaving Chittagong for Dhaka by air on Wednesday morning , former Indian President visited the British police Armoury in city’s Dampara police line area which was looted by the group led by anti British revolutionary Masterda Surya Sen.
