The gala awards ceremony of PRAN National Pickle Competition 2015 was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday. PRAN organizes the national pickle competition for 16th consecutive times. The nationwide competition has been divided into four categories: sweet, sour, hot and others.
A total of 2,751 participants from all over the country took part at the competition with around 7,000 pickles prepared by them. A ten-member panel led by Nishat Parveen, Principal of Home Economics College adjudged winners of the competition.
Pickle of Shamsun Nahar of Jatrabari was judged as the ‘pickle of the year’. She got Tk 2 lakh as prize of champion. Meanwhile, a total of 12 women won awards in the four categories. Besides, 35 others were given consolation prizes.
Aysha Jesmin and Fouzia Afsana Begum of Dhaka became first and second and Sabera Marjana of Khulna won third prize in sour category. Tasnim Karim of Narsingdi became first, Farhana Akhter of Rajshahi second and Dilwara Begum of Dhaka third in sweet category. Sabiha Parven of Dhaka, Tahmina of Sylhet and Abida Sultana Jemy of Pirojpur won first, second and third prizes respectively in hot category. Fahmida Sharmin, Sadia Afrin and Laila Siddique Pinky of Dhaka won first, second and third prizes in other category.
The first prize winners got 42″ Vision LED TV, 2nd prize winners got laptop and 3rd prize winners got IPS in each category. The 35 consolation prize winners got a Italiano dinner set each.
Selima Ahmed, President of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry handed over the awards as the chief guest.
Uzma Chowdhury, Director (Corporate Finance) of PRAN-RFL Group and Israrul Haque, Executive Director of Channel-i, among others, were addressed of the programme.
The award giving ceremony was followed by a colourful cultural function, where popular singers Fahmida Nabi and Imran performed.
