The National Jute Day- 2018 was observed in Kishoreganj amid enthusiasm with a view to making the goods popular among the people on Tuesday.
Kishoreganj district administration and Jute Department jointly arranged a colourful rally, discussion and jute fair marking the Jute Day .

Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury attended as Chief Guest while ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil presided over.
It was addressed among others by Deputy Secretary of Local Government Md Johirul Islam, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud, Senior Scientific Officer Babul Hossion and NDC Shamima Yesmin.
Deputy Commissioner Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said that the government has taken various initiatives, including modernization of the state owned jute mills to bring back the glorious past of the jute sector.
The sector is now making glorious contribution again to the economy as jute is being used for producing about 235 kinds of goods.

BSS from Rangpur adds: Officials and experts at a post-rally discussion said the pragmatic steps taken by the present government have started reviving the past glory of jute, boosting its production and demand both at home and abroad.
They came up with the observation at the discussion arranged at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner here on Tuesday afternoon in observance of the National Jute Day- 2018.
The district administration in association with the Directorate of Jute under the Ministry of Jute and Textiles organised the rally, followed by discussion.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rabiul Islam in the chair.
Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Principal Scientific Officer of Rangpur Regional Station of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Dr Abul Fazal Mollah, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension Dr Sarwarul Haque, spoke as special guests.
In their speeches, the speakers said jute was the biggest source of export earnings for many decades and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman realised importance of jute and nationalised all jute mills.
Dr Haque said the demand for jute is increasing abroad as the fibre is also being used as composite jute textile, construction materials for earthquake surviving houses and geo-textiles.
Dr Mollah said the pragmatic steps and initiatives taken by the present government have started reviving the jute sector.
The chief guest lauded the government steps to increase multi-dimensional use and revive past glory of the golden fibre through enhancing its cultivation, production and export of raw jute and jute-made products.
“The mandatory use of jute sacs during storage and transportation of paddy, rice, wheat, maize, fertilisers, sugar, green chili, ginger, turmeric, garlic, pulses, coriander, potato, flour and rice leftovers is also increasing local use of the golden fibre,” he added.
