Pragati Insurance Ltd declared 10 percent cash dividend for the year 2015 in its 30th Annual General Meeting on Monday at BIAM auditorium in the city.
The meeting was presided over by Syed M. AltafHussain, Chairman of the company. Members of the Board of Directors Abdul AwalMintoo, Khan Mohammad Ameer, Mohammad A. Awwal, SydurRahmanMintoo, NasirLatif, Santosh Sharma andManaging Director & CEO Md Manirul Islam and a large number of shareholders attended the meeting.
During the year 2015 the company earned Gross premium of Tk.1512 million which was 9% higher than the previous year. Profit before tax was Tk. 121.71 million. Net claim settled during the year was Tk. 92.59 million against Tk. 136.72 million in 2014.
The Chairman said in his speech that 2015 was once again a disappointing year for the global economy. Global growth slowed down in 2015 as it fell down to 2.4 percent to 2.6 percent in 2014. This was the slowest growth since the global financial crisis. During the year Pragati earned Tk.1512 million gross premium, which is 9% higher than the previous year.
He said that the growth of the company as well as its assets also increased. .He assured the shareholders that the dividend will be increased in the coming years if the business growth continues.
A large number of shareholders participated in the discussion and expressed their full satisfaction with the performance of the company. Md.Manirul Islam, Managing Director of the company also spoke on the occasion.
The meeting reelected 3(Three) A-Group Directors namely Mohammed A. Awwal, Md. MushfiqurRahman, NahreenSiddiqua. The meeting also elected 2 (Two) Group-B Directors from the Public shareholders, they are A.S.M.MohiuddinMonem,and TahsinaRahman and also re-elected A.K.M. Shamsuddin as Independent Director. The meeting also elected one new Independent Director namely Mr.Santosh Sharma a prominent Journalist.
