The students of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) have completed 11 semesters through appearing at the ‘Practicum Defense Examinations’ an innovative system adopted in curricula for capacity development of future graduates in line with global changes. About 261 candidates of different departments and colleges took part in defense examination from August 23 to August 28, 2014.
IUBAT has developed this innovative system in its examination package as a part of academic curricula in order to improve the overall capacity and standard of future graduates coming out to join in professional fields in various sectors. The process, many a way, contribute to gaining competence, skills and level of grooming of the graduates in the context of undergoing worldwide changes. All these academic practices within university curricula facilitate them to face the demand of job market and global challenge at home and abroad.
Chairs, Directors, Coordinators, members of faculty, students, alumni and representative from practicum organizations attending the practicum defense examination where candidates delivers presentation in front of all present on the occasion. Earlier, all candidates mandatorily keep them engaged in relevant establishments of choice for being intern during entire last semester to acquire practical knowledge in the operating system. Internees are required to prepare project for enrollment in practicum defense examination. Candidates taking part in the defense are allowed 30 minutes for presentation highlighting core activities of the project submitted followed by 15 minutes for questions-answers session. The focal point of this comprehensive system is to make proper assessment individual skills, ability and professionalism of the participants by panel of judges.
The methodology and appraisal cycle of IUBAT for graduation process passes through wide-ranging steps covering comprehensive examination, practicum defense, viva and demonstration of brilliance in the academic environment of the university.
Lastly, Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Vice Chancellor of IUBAT chairing a separate session with relevant chairs, faculties of concerned departments and colleges finally evaluates the assessment record in the process of conferring degrees to the graduates.
