Najmul Hossain Shanto XI thrashed Tamim Iqbal XI by nine wickets in their practice one-day cricket match at Queenstown in New Zealand on Tuesday. Tamim Iqbal could not bat due to injury.
Batting first Tamim Iqbal XI scored 233 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Najmul Hossain Shanto XI romped home making 235 for the loss of one wicket when they had 19 balls to spare. Liton Das of the winning side retired out for 59 runs, while Najmul Hossain Shanto retired out making 40 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 54 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz retired out for 50 runs. Mohammad Saifuddin remained unbeaten with 16 runs.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman of Tamim Iqbal XI took one wicket for 21 runs.
Earlirer, Mohammad Mithun of Tamim Iqbal XI remained unbeaten with 66, while New Zealand-born local player Banjee remained unbeaten with 46.
Mahedi Hasan hit 38, while Mahmudullah Riyad made 35 and Soumya Sarkar scored 28 runs.
Mohammad Naim added 12 runs to the Tamim Iqbal XI.
Pacer Rubel Hossain of Najmul Hossain Shanto XI grabbed four wickets at the cost of 42 runs while his teammate Mohammad Saifuddin took one wicket for 40 runs.
