Prabir Mitra is a living legend in the country’s film industry. He lost his wife Ajonta Mitra in 2000 and he also lost his younger son Akash in 2012. In the beginning of this year, he lost his close friend ATM Shamsuzzaman. He had planned to gossip with late ATM Shamsuzzaman. Date was scheduled but before that the veteran actor became sick and later died. While talking in this regard Prabir Mitra said, “I wished to gossip with Khokon (ATM Shamsuzzaman). Later, I could not get the scope. Before me my friend passed away. It made pain for me. I have many memories with Khokon. We are hailed from Old Dhaka. We passed many times together. Now
I can recall many memories. I want to meet many persons. But in fact, it is true that nobody receives my phone call not even does not want to know about me. When any person comes into the last stage of life, this thing may be happened. It really gives me pain.”
This legendary film actor has been suffering from knee injuries with his two legs for last 14 years. He has been staying in the capital’s Segunbagicha area now. He cannot hear properly now. Despite using hearing machine he cannot hear properly. This veteran actor will turn into 80 today. His son Nipun informed that his father got the National Film Award in 1982 for acting in Mohiuddin directed movie Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo. In 2018, he got the Lifetime Achievement Award in the National Film Award. He got many other awards in his longtime acting career. He said, “Audience’s loves are best achievement in my life. Their loves brought me into today’s position. I want to survive with their loves.”
