The Ministry for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has taken steps to ensure uninterrupted power and gas supply during the countrywide government holidays to prevent coronavirus.
“We have asked the officials of the ministry and subordinate bodies to ensure uninterrupted power and gas supply nationwide holidays to prevent spread of coronavirus,” Nasrul said this on Tuesday in a video message to the media.
The ministry has already made a work-plan how to work and control the situation if any lockdown is imposed, he said.
He said the emergency services such as supply of power, gas and LPG have to continue across the country to avoid suffering of the people in any situation.
The state minister said overall demand for electricity and gasoline have declined substantially due to suspension of production in factories and transport operation and the government has to incur a loss for this.
The ministry will provide protective equipment to different departments with the help of different private power plant operators.
He said energy and mineral resources focal-point office additional secretary (admin) Md Mostafa Kamal (Cell-01711942022) and deputy secretary (budget) Farhana Rahman (Cell-01712872073) will provide information and cooperation about gas and energy related issues.
Power division focal-point office additional secretary (coordination) AKM Humayun Kabir (Cell-01777190917) and joint secretary (admin) Rejwanur Rahman (Cell-01711905819) will provide information about electricity.
