The Holy Qur’an mentions the fruit of Tween which is a very blessed and delicious paradise fruit. Compared to other fruits, Tween fruit has 61 nutritional properties. This tween fruit has the most effective ability to meet the nutritional needs of the human body. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah Almighty has revealed a Surah describing the fruits of Tween. The sweet and delicious tween fruit born in the desert is now being cultivated in Bangladesh as well. Twin fruits have been cultivated on five bighas of land at Natural Agro and Nutrition in Belashi village of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.
The farm authorities have already started the expansion of the farm and production of fruit tree saplings to meet the demand for tween fruits. The firm entrepreneur thinks that it is possible to earn foreign exchange through export as well as eliminate unemployment through cultivation of tween fruits.
11 months ago, in December 2020, his two brothers, young entrepreneurs Rashidul Islam and Aminul Islam, started planting by collecting saplings of Tween fruit tree. In these 11 months, Tween has earned about 85 thousand rupees by selling fruits. From now on, they are hopeful that they will get the expected yield and income in the coming days.
Rashidul Islam said that once planted, the seedlings of Tween fruit tree can live up to one hundred years. This fig-shaped fruit from head to toe has caught everyone’s eye. Twin fruits grow at the base of each leaf. Tween is a nutritious delicious fruit, which grows well in desert areas. Tween is now quite adapted to the soil and climate of Bangladesh. Without any chemical fertilizers, it is possible to produce fruits by mixing organic and composted fertilizers in the soil and planting them in tubs in the sun and in the field. Apart from the country, there is a huge demand for this fruit abroad. It is possible to earn enough foreign exchange by eliminating unemployment and exporting.
It is known that in Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh this fruit is called Tween but in other countries India, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and the United States it is known as Anjir fruit.
The scientific name of this fig tree is Erapang Idhatrapadha and the family name is Garatdhapabhadhab. When the fruit is fully ripe, it becomes juicy and sweet. Not only this, the fruit is also very beneficial in preventing breast cancer, controlling high blood pressure and increasing eyesight.
It also helps in curing constipation and asthma. Eliminates mental fatigue. It has a lot of medicinal properties including potassium and calcium.
Experts said that if the cultivation of tween fruit could be spread among the farmers through the promotion of the country, it would play an important role in the employment and economy of many unemployed youths. It will also reduce the dependence on tween imports from abroad as well as earn foreign exchange.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Abdul Salam Sarkar told the media that the fruit is rich in vitamin C and minerals. Those who are malnourished or weak patients will be healthy and strong by eating this fruit.
