A discussion meeting was held with producers, buyers and exporters on the initiative of Global Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (GAFP) and Sara Bangla Krishak Society at Rangpur Regional Agriculture Officer ‘s Meeting Room on Monday to discuss about the good yield and quality of potato among the exporters, ideal farmers and peasants regarding potato production and export. Leaders of Dhantola GAFP, Birahim GAFP and Jotsashti GAFP of Rangpur district and Agricultural Cooperative Society Limited of Kaliganj Para IAPP and potato exporters of Rangpur division took part in it.
Also present on the occasion were Additional Director of Agriculture Md. Touhidul Islam, Director (Grain) Khandaker Abdul Waheed, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Obaidur Rahman Mandal, Pirgachha Upazila Agriculture Officer Saiful Alam, Mithapukur Agriculture Officer Saiful Abedin, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Tania Akhtar, BFO of Bangladesh Potato Export Workers Association Arif Azad, Shafiqur Rahman, Iqbal Hossain and Rangpur District and Obaidul Haque Sardar, Secretary General of Central Committee of All Bengal Farmers Society.
The meeting was informed. Like last year, in 2021, Rubal Investment Tool Kit will produce exportable potatoes by making business plan and following good farming method or GAP. The Department of Agricultural Extension has promised to provide technical assistance in the production of potatoes. Combined Trade International Iconic Agra Ltd, Masawa Agro Ltd, Agro Tech Ltd and Bangladesh Potato Export Association have assured assistance in potato export through fair procurement.
