The circle office of Postal Department was not established in Barisal divisional city in last 22 years .
Lack of postal circle office has been creating long tail backs in solving different services of the Postal Department.
Barisal General Post Office and Savings Bureau sources said stakeholders have to go circle office at Khulna to resolve their service problems related with postal savings and deaths of postal life insurance clients.
Sushanta Ghosh, one of the clients of postal savings department, demanding immediate opening of postal circle office in Barisal divisional city said for permission of withdrawing or closing savings accounts, solving payments of insurances of death clients and other important but emergency works, papers have to send to Khulna circle office. It creates huge procrastinations in the work. Barisal division with six districts established in 1993 and at that time post offices of theses six districts were under control of Khulna circle of postal department.
However after creating Barisal administrative division, many offices transferred to Barisal divisional headquarter, but not the office of the postal circle.
At present Barisal division has two offices of deputy postmaster general (DPMG) and also two class-one post offices, four class-two post offices, 11 sub-divisional postal inspector offices, 40 upazila post offices, 52 sub-post offices, 47 extra-department (ED) offices of postal department, said Kabir Ahmed, DPMG of Barisal.
However due to lack of circle office of postal department in Barisal, more than thousand officials and staffs, hundreds of clients and stakeholders still have to run to Khulna circle office for mitigating their services, demands and problems, acknowledged Md. Mohsinuddin, APMG in charge of Barisal general post office.
